run for it Current weight is 207 from 260. I have a feeling the numbers will move a little quicker in the next couple of months because I'll be running a lot more. I've got a bit of pain in my leg that is bothering me. I'm hoping with icing and motrin it will go away. This past wednesday, I started a 10-week training program for a 4-mile race that I'm going to run in June. It's a big race held locally that is actually known all over the world - many elite atheletes run this race. Now of course, I'll be way in the back, but I will finish and finish strong. Since Wednesday was the first training, we had to run a timed mile to see what our pace is so we can section off into smaller groups. There had to be 250-300 or maybe even more runners and walkers there. I finished the mile in 11 minutes and there are about 12 people in my group. Now, we'll meet every Wednesday evening to train and run until the race. I'm nervous! But excited. I took Body Pump/run class this morning and my friend Heather and I ran on treadmills next to each other for 45 minutes. I'm much slower than she is - I ran 3.75 miles, and she runs 5 miles in that same 3.75. A 12 minute mile which I'm good with. Of course my one mile time will be quicker than almost four miles. But that means I know it won't take me more than 48 minutes to run the 4 mile. But by then I'll be better conditioned and trained for endurance. Right now, I love the act of running, but it sucks with my leg and that my lungs are having trouble. My legs/body are strong and I rock at running....I just need to learn to use my lungs more because by the end of 3.75 miles, I'm huffing and puffing. But I feel proud and strong. I'll keep icing this leg and we'll see what happens. |
