Advances

Finally. Yay. The scale has moved! I am down 2 pounds this week, making my weight 213 pounds and a total loss of 47 pounds since May.

It's got to be the running. I've been taking Body Pump 3-4 times a week for at least two months now and yoga twice a week for a month and maybe I didn't lose any weight because I'm building muscle?

I've slowly weaned myself off of doing an hour of heavy elliptical machine 4-5 days a week to running on the treadmill. Today was my best running day. I did an hour of yoga and then had a 42 minute run, no walking - 3.44 miles. That is a little over a 12 minute mile and I'm happy with that, I've really advanced since December...I was jogging a 15 minute mile then.

I've also been cooking at home often. I get into this rut often that I eat nicely during the day but I'm on my way home and I am so hungry that I stop and pick up take-out or something. But with money so tight and such, I've done a GREAT job this week. I went grocery shopping on Friday and we haven't eaten out since - almost a whole week! I bought a giant tub of the orgranic baby spring greens and whatever I make, I pair it with a big green salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

I've made lamb burgers, organic ribeye steaks, we've had the all-natural Healthy Choice meals, veggie burgers, etc...and then a big green salad always paired with. Dessert has been a Twinkie or a pecan spinwheel or oatmeal creame pie...one night we had a scoop of ice cream. If I have a dessert, I try not to make it something really low-fat...I want it to be the "real" stuff, a normal small serving...and I find that to be satisfying and I stop at that.

I have discovered the Sandwich Thins bread which is absolutely fabulous. I'm not a huge bread eater, but my husband is. And my biggest issue with bread, especially buns, is that sometimes it's just too much bread. These are round like hamburger buns, but thin. Perfect size for veggie burgers or any other burgers, sandwiches, and they toast well. No more bagels or skimpy english muffins for us! The best part is they are 1g fat each and they have 4-5 grams of fiber per bun.

Oh my...I sound like a commercial! Anyway, just wanted to update my progress.
